SANTA CLARA, Calif. – February 21, 2013 – FileMaker, Inc. today announced the FileMaker iOS Demo Solutions webpage, where businesses will find free downloadable demos that highlight custom iPad and iPhone solutions created using the FileMaker Platform. The sample solutions reflect a wide range of real-world iOS business uses and have been created by  leading independent FileMaker developers.

The demos, which are limited in functionality or time, include solutions for event management, point of sale, invoicing, customer relationship management, sales management, mapping, and more.

“The FileMaker Platform has become a hugely popular way for businesses to create custom solutions for the iPad and iPhone,” said Ryan Rosenberg, vice president, marketing and services, FileMaker. “Companies love the fast development, quick returns, and the ability to integrate their iOS solutions with Macs, PCs, and back-end business systems. Just last month, we announced that our customers have downloaded more than a half-million copies of FileMaker Go for iPad and FileMaker Go for iPhone from the App Store. These free demos further demonstrate the many practical, custom solutions that can be created for iOS using FileMaker software.”

Just to recap last issue’s article on the compatibility between FileMaker and Snow Leopard: Apple has made a fairly massive update to it operating system with the release of OSX 10.6. The operating system is highly optimized, and feels much faster than its predecessor, 10.5. The rub with any operating system upgrade is that sometimes things get broken. If you’re continuing to use an older version of FileMaker Pro, we recommend you do not upgrade to Snow Leopard. At a minimum, check the list of possible problems below.

RCC has created a website that centralizes the free templates available in the FileMaker community. The site, filemakerfree.com, is a webpage that contains all the top free FileMaker solutions for download and immediate use. While several of the solutions were developed by RCC, a number of the solutions are from additional third-parties.

Obviously, free is good! These databases make a great starting point for a more complete solution for your organization. Finally, Microsoft’s newest member of the Windows family is here. Substantially lighter and supposedly faster – Windows 7 arrives after three years in the making with some nifty new goodies.  Already a huge success over its predecessor, Vista, it is now time for the applications to play catch-up and fix the issues inherited with any operating system upgrade.  If you’re continuing to use an older version of FileMaker Pro, we recommend you do not upgrade to Windows 7.  At a minimum, check the list of possible problems below.
